Love in Business - Part Two
In a previous post we started talking about Love in Business, and I mentioned my friend Rick Krska.
Twelve years ago, Rick started a company to re-manufacture laser toner and inkjet cartridges. From hand-filling the cartridges on a workbench in his basement, he has built a business that is closing in on $100,000,000 in annual sales. He's a remarkable guy in so many ways. This quote from the book Daring Visionaries by Ray Smilor reveals one of them.
"... some of the words that we use around here are probably not words that are used in normal, everyday business. One of the things that I talk about is that I want us to love each other and care about each other. I care about you, I care about your family. I want you to do well, and I line up with people when I feel that they have an interest in me like that."
If you ever visit Rick's company, you'll feel that love the moment you walk through the doors. If you tour the plant with Rick, you'll notice how people light up when he's around. That's because he has a relationship with each and every one of the several hundred people who work in the company. In another post, I'll talk a little about leaders and relationship.
